The classic Organic IGP Lavender Honey has fresh and floral aromas of Provence in summer. It is light amber in colour (whitened when crystallised) and has a creamy texture. As a premium honey, it has a mild sweet taste with slightly sour notes that lingers in the mouth. Organic honey in France has to meet very precise specifications and controls. The hives and bees must be in natural areas and in organic farming.
Honey is very nutritious. It is good for the skin and has healing properties through ingestion or topical application. Lavender Honey is often used to treat many human ailments (cuts and burns, athlete's foot, arthritis pain, etc.):
- soothe irritation and redness and manage acne with its antimicrobial properties;
- stop bacteria growth and heal wounds;
- reduce swelling and infection with its anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties;
- treat respiratory infections like sore throat, cough, rhinitis, and bronchitis;
- generate neurotransmitters to help with brain conditions with its high amounts of tyrosine.
The taste of this Organic Lavender Honey reminds you of the lavender in Provence for which is especially renowned. It goes well with feta or blue cheeses, pastries and frozen desserts. It can also be used to make nougats, cakes, or cookies. Of course, you can mix a tablespoon of the Honey with warm water every morning to start your day in a healthy way.
